Base64 to PDF Converter

Paste the Base64 and get a PDF back. The tool checks for a valid %PDF header before handing it over, so you know immediately whether the data is intact instead of opening a file that turns out to be corrupt.

Where Base64 PDFs come from

  • Invoices and contracts from APIs โ€” accounting and e-signature services commonly return a document as a Base64 field
  • Email attachments โ€” MIME encodes attachments as Base64, usually wrapped at 76 characters
  • Document storage exports โ€” database dumps and backup jobs that store files as text

How the tool knows it really is a PDF

Every PDF starts with the bytes %PDF and ends with %%EOF. The decoded data is checked against both, so a truncated copy is reported as broken instead of being saved as an unopenable file. The same check is what recovers the type when you have no file name at all.

Frequently asked questions

The restored PDF will not open โ€” what now?

Almost always truncated data: the Base64 was cut short while copying. Copy from the raw API response rather than a rendered page, and check the string ends with %%EOF once decoded.

Are encrypted PDFs supported?

The bytes are restored exactly as they were encoded, so a password-protected PDF is saved as-is and still asks for its password when opened. Decryption is not attempted.
