Base64 to Word Converter

Paste the Base64 and download the .docx. Word files are ZIP containers, so the tool checks for the PK header that modern Office formats start with โ€” which is also how it tells a .docx from other ZIP-based files.

Where Base64 Word documents come from

  • Document APIs โ€” e-signature and reporting services that return a generated .docx as a string field
  • Backups and exports โ€” systems that store uploaded documents as text
  • Email pipelines โ€” MIME attachments captured on their way through

How a .docx is recognized

Office Open XML files are ZIP archives: the decoded bytes begin with PK. Inside, a real .docx contains word/document.xml, while .xlsx and .pptx contain their own parts โ€” that is how the type is pinned down without relying on a file name.

Legacy .doc files

Word 97-2003 files use a completely different binary format and start with D0 CF 11 E0 instead. They are detected as a generic compound document and saved with a .doc extension; the contents are untouched either way.

Frequently asked questions

Can it convert formats, for example .docx to PDF?

No โ€” the tool restores the original file exactly as encoded. Format conversion is a different job: open the restored document in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs and export from there.

Will WPS Office open the result?

Yes. WPS reads standard Office Open XML, and since the bytes are identical to the original file, anything that opened it before will open it again.
